Rediscovering Richard III
7:00 – 8:30pm – Tempest Anderson Hall
The dramatic story of Richard III captured the world’s attention when his remains were discovered in 2013. Three world-leading experts will discuss their findings in facial reconstruction, archaeology and genetics: Caroline Wilkinson, Matthew Morris, Turi King. Chair: Mark Ormrod.

Hearing the Past: St Mary’s Abbey Reconstructed
8:45 – 9:15pm – Museum Gardens
Hear the echoes of a building that’s been ruins for 500 years. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear St Mary’s Abbey as it was in the 1200s.
Architexture II has been specially composed for Yornight and uses cutting edge 3D technology to recreate the acoustic of St Mary’s as we think it was.

- Join us in the ‘Cosmodome’ to see the planets virtually.
- Then see the York Observatory at night and learn about the history of York’s Astronomers.

- Be the first to explore the new Garden trail designed by Yorkshire school students

- Go ‘spider whispering’ – make friends with your fears!
- Learn about how insect pests are detected in museums using methods based on bioacoustic research with Dr David Chesmore, Senior Lecturer in the Electronics Department at the University of York.
