- Description
- As pattern. Large solid copper alloy hilt with false bars on the solid guard, lion's head pommel and back strap over a wirebound 'fish-skin' wrap. Hinged inside guard. Crown over fouled anchor cast in badge. Large slightly curved blade with pipe back and false edge at point. Etching worn away, never gilded. In leather scabbard with locket, chape and centre mount in copper alloy. Locket has mount with inscription "SALTER, SWORD SUPPLIER TO HRH THE DUKE OF SUSSEX, APPLY TO 73 THE STRAND, LONDON". There are no rings on this scabbard simply a downcurved stud on the outside of the locket for a shoulder belt/frog.
