Museum Baby - Minibeasts

Museum Baby (under two years old) – Special baby sessions linked to exhibitions, including songs and sensory activities for babies and their carers. Sessions are a mixture of free flow and adult led activities which all relate to the early years Curriculum. A perfect introduction to museums!

Minibeasts – Play with the inflatable minibeasts and find the minibeasts in the sand.

Venue: Yorkshire Museum

Potential objects of treasure, as defined by the Treasure Act 1996, must be reported to the coroner within 14 days of discovery. Our Finds Liaison Officer based at the Yorkshire Museum can advise and facilitate the reporting of treasure.

Bring your finds and meet our PAS Officer today between 10am and 1pm (no need to book).

A course of three workshops led by poet Robert Powell including a session of drawing activities with artist Jake Attree.

Sessions take place on 20 January, 3 February and 17 February 2017 from 1pm to 4pm.

The course is £50 per person and includes the opportunity to take part in ‘An Early Evening of Poetry’ on 18 March 2017, or entry to the event.

York Observatory Evening

Venue: York Museum Gardens

York Observatory in the York Museum Gardens is the major part of York Museums Trust’s Astronomy Collection. It was built in 1832 to 1833 and is the oldest working observatory in Yorkshire. Installed in 1981, its 4-inch refractor telescope was built by York man Thomas Cooke in 1850 and is still in use today.

Join us for our winter observing evenings to find out more about our telescope, the observatory, and the night sky.

Free drop-in session, no need to book.
