A Mesolithic Mystery: The Star Carr Frontlets – Thu 26 Jan 2017

A Mesolithic Mystery: The Star Carr Frontlets

Date: Thursday 26 January 2017, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Venue: Yorkshire Museum

During the 1950’s archaeologists discovered 21 red deer headdresses during excavations at the Star Carr site in North Yorkshire. These mysterious headdresses are about 11,000 years old and were created by the Mesolithic people who lived in North Yorkshire at that time.

Star Carr is one of the most important Mesolithic archaeological sites in Europe. Incredibly, during work at the site in 2015, even more of these rare objects were found. Be one of the first to see the full collection on display at the Yorkshire Museum as we join Natalie McCaul, Curator of Archaeology, to discover how these remarkable discoveries have shed light on life in Yorkshire 11,000 years ago.

£10 per person (museum admission included) – click here to book through Eventbrite.
