February Half Term: Votes and Vikings – 14-22 February
Come along to York Castle Museum and the Yorkshire Museum this February to take part in some great family friendly events.
Yorkshire Museum
This February half-term become a Viking Pirate and learn how to train your dragon at the Yorkshire Museum!
Buried Treasure – Pieces of Eight Trail!
Available every day, 10am-5pm
Follow the clues around the museum to find the pieces of eight. If you are successful claim your own chocolate treasure!
50p per trail.
Normal admission applies.
Viking Longboats
Available every day, 10am-5pm
Dress as a Viking pirate and make your own mini longboat.
Metal Detecting
Weds 18 & Thurs 19 Feb, 11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm
What buried treasure will you be able to discover using the museum’s special hand held metal detectors?
Free. Activity included in Museum admission.
Craft Dragons
Sat 21 Feb, 10am-5pm
Craft materials will be available in the Learning Labs for budding Vikings to make their own dragon to take home and train!
Free. Activity included in Museum admission.
Special Film Screening: How to Train Your Dragon
Sat 21 Feb, Film starts at 3pm.
Meet Hiccup the Viking, who befriends a young dragon in this DreamWorks animation from 2010.
Tickets are £5, purchase at reception. Museum admission is additional.
York Castle Museum
Come along to York Castle Museum to discover more about the suffragette’s fight for women to vote and take part in family friendly activities.
Votes for Women!
Everyday, on Kirkgate, 10am-4pm
Discover the history of the fight for women’s right to vote at the museum this half term.
Put on a sash (or opt for a policeman’s helmet!) and join our Suffragette on Kirkgate, the museum’s Victorian Street, where you will march with placards, demonstrate, and protest for your cause.
Be careful you don’t get arrested by the street’s Policeman!
Free, included in Museum Admission.
