Described in Eboracum as "Tombstone fragment, squared for reuse as a medieval building stone, 1ft 5ins by 10ins by 9 and 1/2 ins.... .....FIL (..) V(IXIT) AN(NOS) XIII ... VITELLIA PRO CVLA MATER P(IENTISSIME) P(OSVIT) L(IBERO)... '...child, lived 13 years. Vitellia Procula, the mother, most dutifully set up (this tombstone) for her child.' At the end of the inscription, medieval stonemasons have added the letters AM, for Ave Maria and a cross, to hallow the heathen inscription. The sex of the child remains uncertain."
